We started learning from the basics. I found the following points very helpful:
- We have to use the lower muscles of the hand in order to be more relaxed.
- Suburi is an exercise that has implications in all aspects of kendo practice. The grip is very important. In suburi practice, relaxation is the key.
- We have to hit exactly into the centre.
- If one is afraid to be hit one cannot learn to hit correctly.
- Kirikaeshi doesn't have to be fast but correct. Correct kirikaeshi leads to improvement. If one does an incorrect technic that's how it will be memorised.
- The small man should be executed exactly in the centre.
- It is a mistake to keep wrists high when one hits a men to a tall opponent.
- When one hit kote the left hand should be relaxed.
- It is very important to do all exercises with correct posture.
- Every oji waza is grounded over the principle that one has to make his opponent attack in order to perform a successful waza.
